I joined Inner-self at the end of January 2018, having completed my BA Hons degree in counselling studies. Within my client work I have had the pleasure of supporting children, adolescents, and adults. As a therapist i work from a person centred core which enables the therapy to be led by the client and held by myself, whilst at the same time giving the client a safe and confidential space for clients to explore feelings and emotions. My experience is with both long and short time clients supporting issues such as anxiety, anger, and low self-esteem. Along with talking therapy, I offer creative therapy using many forms of creative play: examples of these are sand tray art, painting drawing, clay, playdough and many more this encourages children to talk through the wide media of play. My previous work has been as a nanny, managing a nursery, and working within children’s care homes as both a deputy manager and outreach worker dealing with mental health issues and supporting children adults and adolescents with many issues including drug and alcohol. Inner Self Counsellor Lauren Kelly Psychotherapist UKCP

I joined Inner Self in 2012 as a student counsellor whilst continuing my studying at Regent’s University. At the start of 2017, I became a fully qualified psychotherapist. During my time at Inner Self, I have worked with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, low self-confidence, and bereavement. Having also worked as a school counsellor in a secondary school for a number of years, I particularly have experience with young adults, whom I consider to be those aged over 16 and into their 20s. A lot of the time, our past experiences affect how we are feeling now, so it is often useful to explore these. However, I think it is important to meet the needs of each individual, so will adapt my way of working to suit the person in front of me. I aim to provide a safe, empathic space, in which each person feels able to be really open without fear of judgement. My fee is £40

Approach To Counselling
There are many different counselling approaches which can often feel difficult for people to understand. At Inner-Self we believe what's most important when looking for a counsellor is that we are suitably trained and qualified with a professional body. Most of all it's important that you feel comfortable with the counsellor you choose. We describe ourselves as counsellors working in an integrative way, drawing from psychodynamic, person centred and solution focused/CBT counselling models offering both long and short term counselling in a confidential environment with an approachable, understanding and flexible manner. We feel it is vitally important as a counsellor and as human beings that we offer respect and value for the person who is sitting in front of us in having the ability to listen to a persons needs and being able to adapt to them. In not feeling restricted to one model of choice we offer an approach for individual needs and requirements.
Psychodynamic Approach
Exploring and linking past behaviours, family and childhood difficulties to the present and looking at how these past influences have affected our present lifestyle and relationships. By exploring and releasing the feelings, thoughts and emotions associated with the past we are able to acknowledge the way these are affecting our present lifestyle and relationships. By acknowledging the past we are able to slowly make changes in the present. Pyschodynamic counselling is effective for people who have struggled with issues for a while that they feel need voicing and addressing or a significant event has triggered feelings from the past.
Holistic Approach
Quite often when underlying feelings are not addressed your body will feel them in a physical form, at Inner-Self we work with the person seeing them as a whole where the significance is that the mind, body and spirit all have significant links to each other and therefore we work with physical symptoms as well as emotions and feelings as these phsyical aspects can often be the symptom of underlying unexpressed emotions, the aim is by exploring and working with all these aspects is that a person can gain a balance.
CBT Approach
Where and when required we use CBT techinques in our work
